Fun to see Harry go toe-to-toe with Voldemort for the first time. Glad he’s no match but held his own in his way.
This bit reads oddly. Upon reread, it’s Voldemort’s wishful thinking? Odd turn of phrase there.
Harry’s internal monologue is a bit jumbled. Makes sense for him to take victory where he can, but going from “a cold punch to the gut” to “the Dark Lord no longer seemed like a distant goal” in the same paragraph is a bit quick. Would flow a bit better for Dumbledore or even Juno to offer such words of comfort to him. Harry’s just survived a battle and is understandably feeling a bit down on his skills. He can’t be the world’s most reasonable 14 year old every time something happens. Dumbledore fills that role easily, but Juno would have added depth if she’s the one to pull him out of the fog of war.
Speaking of Juno, interesting character development. She’s growing in recklessness and Grindewald’s dressing down will be well-earned when he hears about it.
Excited as always for the next update.
I wonder if Harry having broken the limit in Intent feels like this while facing Voldemort, how did his parents thrice defied the dark lord? Were they lucky (thrice??) or were they just so far ahead of their peers (including their friends incl Sirius Black, whom Harry has already surpassed)?
